Driver Supervision

Driver supervision is difficult because the driver is away for extended periods of time and not under direct supervision. But, there are supervisory methods available. Job responsibilities and conduct should be clearly understood. Job descriptions are helpful. Accurate, concise, and thorough driver’s manuals are excellent. Additional supervisory techniques include informative new-hire orientation, on-board communication (e.g., satellite, phones and pagers), regular check rides, and road observations.
