Periodic road tests should not be confused or mistaken for the initial road test given during the qualification process.
Periodic road tests (normally administered on a random, annual or bi-annual basis) are a good way to help identify and correct any undesirable habits a driver may have developed since his or her qualification, and can help prevent accidents. It also provides the driver an opportunity to demonstrate his/her skills. Excellent driving skills should also be recognized (e.g., awards).
